  • Camp Danbee in Hinsdale, Massachusetts
  • Camp Pinehurst in Raymond, Maine
  • Camp Walt Whitman in Piermont, New Hampshire
  • Kabeyun in Alton Bay, New Hampshire
  • Keewaydin Dunmore in Salisbury, Vermont

PremierCamps Renovates Homes with Habitat for Humanity PDF Print E-mail

In the fall of 2006, a group of PremierCamps facilities personnel attended an annual meeting in Freeport, Maine. After a day of meetings and touring the extensive renovations done at Camp Cobbossee for boys, the group enbarked on a community service project renovating two area homes in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity.

The projects received front page coverage in the local newspaper.

A camp experience teaches children to work together more cooperatively, to resolve conflicts more effectively, to assume greater responsibility, and to become more self-reliant and self-confident. In the best, most enduring camps, skill acquisition is simply another means to strengthen children's character development. These intangible benefits, while not exclusive to traditional camps, are most prevalent in the best traditional overnight and day camps.
